A Journey through Wholeness at Own Your Ase
Health Equity
At Own Your Ase (OYA), we believe health equity means every person has the knowledge, tools, and support needed to live a healthy, whole, and self-directed life. We work to improve healthier life outcomes for youth and adults by addressing the social, emotional, and cultural factors that shape well-being—especially in Black and Brown communities historically impacted by health disparities.
Our health equity work is grounded in three core pillars:
Healthy Socialization & Sexual Wellness
We provide culturally responsive education that supports informed decision-making, healthy boundaries, consent, reproductive knowledge, and relationship wellness across the lifespan.
Heart Health
We center prevention, awareness, and community care—addressing stress, grief, lifestyle, and systemic factors that contribute to heart disease, particularly among Black women and families.
Social-Emotional Life Skills
We strengthen emotional intelligence, self-regulation, communication, resilience, and coping strategies that support mental health, academic success, workforce readiness, and healthy relationships.
Through workshops, circles, trainings, and community events, Own Your Ase advances health equity by empowering individuals to care for their bodies, nurture healthy connections, and build lives rooted in wellness, dignity, and purpose.
Our partnership with RnD Associates and the Baltimore City Health Department extends our reach and network providing health equity in West Baltimore and beyond. Join our email list to learn about upcoming events @ OYAOutreach@gmail.com
